Winter wedding in Great Canfield. Essex
Such a privilege to be in Essex to photograph Georgie and Edwards special wedding in Great Dunnow, Essex. A cold winters day was set with Georgie's parents hosting the reception in a fabulous marquee behind their beautiful home: Love Farm. Add in a medieval church and a 1928 Packard car to bring Georgie to church, the scene was set for something very special.
GREAT CANFIELD. A REMARKABLE NORMAN CHURCH SETTING
I arrived at Love Farm early to see and photograph the many goings on behind the scenes to make a wedding work, putting up decorations, unwrapping the dresses, checking the dance play-lists and witness that lovely warm atmosphere as the clock began to countdown to the moment Georgie left the house to travel to Canfield to marry Edward. At Great Canfield, the setting could not have been more English. A medieval village that looked like something out of a Christmas Carol was a perfect backdrop for the quintessential English church. Nearly 1000 years old, this remarkable church is adorned with Viking carvings and a thirteenth century wall painting featuring an image of the Virgin Mary which Pevsner states is the finest in the country. He’s not wrong, it is just breath taking. To photograph the guests arriving, putting on buttonholes and greeting Ed against this stunning back-drop was wonderful.
The ceremony was conducted by the warmest of Vicars and on exiting the church, the newly wed couple started the celebrations with a a great confetti line up and a very quick group shot with this amazing church behind them, perfect!
BACK TO LOVE FARM FOR CELEBRATIONS, LOVE AND LAUGHTER
A friend of the happy couple owns a stunning 1928 Packard convertible, the perfect car to take them to Love farm for drinks, canapés and celebrations. It was bitterly cold with an icy wind, so the couple went straight into the huge marquee to be greeted with countless hugs and kisses from their friends and family. A superb meal followed by speeches, and in-between courses, a singer who got every table to sing lines from his songs, entertained them. Rounded up by a rousing rendition of the 12 days of Christmas sung with gusto by each table; magic!
Drinks, dancing, love and laughter carried on into the night, to be able to photograph such a fabulous wedding was incredible, Thank-you Georgie and Edward, it was beautiful to be part of your special day.
A very special wedding.
Interesting to note, Georgie & Ed used a company called Shoot it Yourself for their video. Rather than employ a videographer to cover the wedding, they were supplied with HD video cameras which the guests were invited to pick up and shoot themselves during the wedding. The company will then edit the footage into something unique. I thought i would give this a mention as it's something new to me and maybe a bride and groom might be interested.
